Marvel Drops New ‘Black Panther’ Trailer (VIDEO)

“If the world’s gonna start over, I’m gonna burn it all!”

Those words are just one of the many ominous highlights in the new Black Panther trailer that Marvel dropped earlier today. In the roughly two minute clip of pure awesomeness, fans and casual viewers alike are introduced to Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of the famed Black Panther. The release of the trailer set off a torrent of hype from fans across social media, and “Black Panther” is currently trending at number one on Twitter in the United States.

The new trailer, which is an extension of an earlier teaser released in June, sheds some more light on the story. From what can be gathered from it, Boseman’s character, T’Challa, returns to his home planet to claim the thrones after the previous king, his father, dies. As hype-inducing hip-hop music plays over Gil-Scott Heron’s The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, T’Challa is drawn into a conflict to protect his home world and its people. Assuming the identity of the Black Panther, T’Challa fights in his people’s defense and also to protect his claim to the throne, as another contender has appeared.

Aside for Boseman, the film also boasts a wide array of incredible talent such as Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira. With such a star studded group of talent, the upcoming release has been quickly gaining momentum and fans are eager to see what’s behind the curtain of this mysterious new film.
