Earlier this year fans of The Voice got wind of an upcoming new twist in the format coming next season. There was speculation that this twist may have something to do with a “block” being implemented into the Blind Auditions round.
As it turns out, that’s exactly what’s happening.
In the above video, it’s explained that each coach will be given the power to, at least once, block a contestant from choosing a particular coach during the audition rounds.
“The block gives you the opportunity to block the coach that you don’t want to take whatever artist you want to get,” coach, Alicia Keys, explains in the video.
“A block for Blake is a victory for me!” Adam Levine chimes in.
I really really don’t like this twist. I feel it takes power away from the contestants, who the show should really be all about. As I described in my previous article on this matter, it’s just doing the show a disservice. Sure it might make for good TV, but in the grand scheme of things the show may be taking a contestant away from a dream partnership.
But that’s just my opinion. What do you think about this new twist? Let me know in the comments below.
